Dehradun History of Dehradun It is believed that in Dvapar Yuga Guru Dronacharya meditated on Deodar mountain, 19 km east of Dehradun city near Diregaon . Due to this valley is called Dronashram . Kedarkhand is considered a part of Skandpuran. It describes the boundaries of Garhwal as follows - from Gangadwar-Haridwar to the Shwantanta mountain and the elaborate plots from the Tamsa-Tons river to Nanda Devi at Budhanchal-Baghan on which the Ganges flows on one side and the Yamuna River on the other. The flow of Tamsa also passes through Dehradun. From the Ramayana period, there is a description about Dehradun that Lord Rama and his younger brother Lakshman came to this area after the war with Ravana. The British writer GRC Williams, in the Memoirs of Doon, mentions Brahmin Janushruti, that after the victory of Lanka, the Brahmin came here with Lord Rama Lakshmana on the advice of Guru Vashistha to atone and kill Ravana. देहरादून का इतिहास देहरादून का इतिहास मान्यता है कि द्वापर युग में गुरु द्रोणाचार्य ने द्वारागांव के पास देहरादून शहर से 19 किमी पूर्व में देवदार पर्वत पर तप किया था। इसी से यह घाटी द्रोणाश्रम कहलाती है।[1]. केदारखंड को स्कंदपुराण का एक भाग माना जाता है। इसमें गढ़वाल की सीमाओं का वर्णन इस तरह है- गंगाद्वार-हरिद्वार से लेकर श्वेतांत पर्वत तक तथा तमसा-टौंस नदी से बौद्धांचल-बघाण में नन्दा देवी तक विस्तृत भूखंड जिसके एक ओर गंगा और दूसरी तरफ यमुना नदी बहती है। तमसा का प्रवाह भी देहरादून से होकर है। रामायण काल से देहरादून के बारे में विवरण आता है कि रावण के साथ युद्ध के बाद भगवान राम और उनके छोटे भाई लक्ष्मण इस क्षेत्र में आए थे। अंग्रेज लेखक जीआरसी विलियम्स ने मेमोयर्स ऑफ दून में ब्राह्मण जनुश्रुति का उल्लेख करते हुए लिखा है कि लंका विजय के पश्चात् ब्राह्मण रावण को मारने का प्रायश्चित करने और प्रायश्चित स्वरूप तपस्या करने के लिए गुरु वशिष्ठ की सलाह पर भगवान राम लक्ष्मण के साथ यहां आए थे। राम ने ऋषिकेश में और लक्ष्मण ने तपोवन में पाप से मुक्ति के लिए वर्षो तपस्या की थी। इस...
